I feature the work of one of the artists i know for the first time at Exeter 2008 at Opus Mosaic Gallery (Exhibition Planet Earth 2008)
Aujourd’hui, je présente le travail d'un des artistes que j’ai découvert pour la première fois à Exeter en 2008 à la Galerie d'Opus Mosaic - Exhibition Planet Earth 2008 où j’ai exposé in Pixel-Artmosaic:

My city - Irit Levy
Vitreous tiles.
Ce paysage urbain (My City) m'a étonné par son rythme,
pour la combinaison, la fusion de son mouvement et de son graphisme.
Ensuite j'ai découvert avec bonheur (Tea break) et un portrait de sa fille, je crois... à Chartres.
Cette approche personnelle de l'art de la mosaïque m'est apparue originale et peu semblable à l'ensemble de la production "mosaistique" ambiante...

Cette approche des petits riens, de la paresse, de l'oisiveté, du temps
qui passe, du regard tendre sur ses proches, du quotidien soit disant futile m'a capté et m'a incité à découvrir ses autres oeuvres et ses autres univers
artistiques.

J'ai donc voulu en savoir plus au fil du temps.
Nous avons exposé à Chartres (Automn 2008)et à Exeter pour d'autres oeuvres :
Exhibition Heavens above (June and july 2009) and Exhibition "In the spirit of Chagall " (November and december 2009)
Aujourd'hui encore, elle rompt sans cesse avec les clichés et les
"attendus" que l'on voit à mon goût trop souvent.
Irit s'implique, elle a de l'audace, elle suit plusieurs chemins.
Beaucoup de poésie se dégage de ses oeuvres.
Elle détonne par le choix de ses couleurs.
Sans chercher à tout prix de l'originilaté ou à vouloir être originale, elle transfert brillamment ses esquisses picturales en éblouissantes mosaïques.

ses choix et ses applications sont pertinents tout en étant audacieux.
Voilà ce que m'évoque la vision des oeuvres d'Irit Levy et c'est toujours un grand bonheur de découvrir ses oeuvres au fur et à mesure de leurs
naissances...

"In April 2007 I did my first mosaic, which means that for almost 3 this is all I do, well… almost…
Being a mosaic artist is a real adventure and with every project I face new challenges. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I fail, but most importantly I enjoy my time with this medium.
If someone asks me what is the most enjoyable part in my mosaic art I’d say – the process. I love choosing the colors, choosing the materials, I love the hesitation before laying the first tile, I love pausing in the middle and rethinking the whole thing, I love the mess, I love the slow process which allows me to grow with the work.
All my work is very personal. Everything is derived from my own personal life and that’s one of the reasons I don’t take commissions.
I don’t like to explain my work, partly because I am lazy, but mainly because my art philosophy is that once the art is out in the public it has a life of its own, and everything that happens is between the view and the piece itself. At that point I and my meanings are no longer relevant.
My work is minimalist in a way that the object always looks as if it is disconnected from its surrounding.
Sometimes it will be by having nothing in the background, like in Big Happiness, sometimes it is by showing a human figure who is so occupied by himself, like A Man in A Waiting Room or Red Hair Girl.
I have been told several times that my backgrounds are special. I have a lot of movement in the backgrounds even when they are plain. I guess that this is derived from my art education. One of my art teachers used to scold us very often “I want to see your brush movements, I want to see the energy. You are not wall painters”.
And I am trying to create inner energy in my work using the rigid materials of mosaic art.
With every tile I lay on my surface I can still here my professor echoing
and I can still hear myself thinking “I wonder what he would say now”
